How to modify your user profile.
Once you've created your own username for the Message Boards, you may
want to modify your user profile so that other users can learn relevant
information about you. The addition of this information is completely
optional, and it will be viewable to everyone who uses the website, so please
use due caution when listing information about yourself.
1. From the Message Boards, log in using your username and password
and then click on the User Control Panel link.
2. On the left side-bar menu, click on Profile.
3. Within the Profile menu, you can modify the following aspects:
The first screen that shows up lists your profile settings. In this
section, you can enter all of your instant messenger usernames, your
website address, location, occupation, and interests. It is suggested
that in the Location section you enter the neighborhood which you live
in (e.g. Bridle Crossing II). Be sure to click Submit when finished.
4. To edit your signature, at the Profile menu (left side-bar), click
on Edit Signature. In this section you can enter any text that you want
to be diplayed after any message that you post on the message boards.
Be sure to click Submit when finished.
5. To edit your avatar, at the Profile menu (left side-bar), click
on Edit Avatar. In this section you can upload a small picture of yourself
or any other image or icon that you want to be displayed next to your
username in your message boards posts. The maximum allowed dimensions
for your avatar are 90 pixels wide x 90 pixels high, and the file size
cannot exceed 8 kb. (The GIF image format probably works best to meet
these requirements.) Be sure to click Submit when finished.
6. To edit your account settings, at the Profile menu (left side-bar), click
on Edit Account Settings. In this section, you can change your email address
and/or your password. Be sure to click Submit when finished.
7. To edit your forum preferences, on the left side-bar menu,
click on Forum Preferences.
8. Within the Forum Preferences menu, you can modify the following aspects:
The first screen that shows up lists your global settings. In this
section, you can change settings that affect various aspects of your
account on the Message Boards. Change these settings to your desired
preferences. The suggested settings are shown below. If you want to
hide your email address from others, be sure to check NO under 'User
can contact me by email'. Click Submit when finished.
9. To edit your posting defaults, at the Forum Preferences menu (left side-bar),
click on Edit Posting Defaults. Change these settings to your desired preferences.
If you want to be notified by email when someone has responded to one
of your posts, be sure to check YES under 'Notify me upon replies by default'.
Click Submit when finished.
10. To edit your display options, at the Forum Preferences menu (left side-bar),
click on Edit Display Options. Change these settings to your desired preferences.
Click Submit when finished.
11. You have now changed the most common settings that most users would want to
change with respect to their user profiles. You can also change other settings
such as private messages, usergroups, and Friends/Foes.
